It’s always hard to have to say goodbye to a friend – whether it’s a pet, a beloved character (sorry, [Redacted], I really did love you ðŸ˜), or a place that no longer exists. I’ve even been known to cry over people I never knew, but who influenced my life in one way or another. (Don’t judge me, ‘kay? I’m weird.) And now I’m having to say goodbye to my local bookstore, where I’ve had multiple events and even met one of my biggest fans. (CH, you know who you are! 😊)
Bonsai Books opened in late ’23, and the owner, Sarah, was great about letting local authors do book signings and promoting their books in the store. That’s where I had the release party for To Stand and End of the Earth, and I had other signings too – both by myself and with other authors.
I’ll really miss Bonsai; it was a nice, cozy little place that always smelled great thanks to the coffee bar. 😊 But I’m grateful for the times I did have there and for the people I met!
Now it shouldn’t surprise me that, as soon as I learned I’d be losing one location, God opened up another one for me. For a while my mum has been looking at renting a space at Christine & Co. Flea Market here in Cheyenne, and a couple weeks ago she finally got one! It’s a 2-foot-wide bookcase with the top part divided into cubes; so, since I frequently help her with her thrifting/refinishing, she let me have one of the small spaces to display my books and crochet dolls. 😊
Here’s pictures of the bookshelf and my spot. It’s a small space, but my stuff just barely fits! Currently I just have We Gave Our Tomorrows there.

(Sorry for the poor quality; I was using the camera flash because the spaces are pretty dark. We’re planning to put up some fairy lights to display our stuff better.)
So now I have books for sale at 307 Made and at Christine & Co. (which just happens to be the place where I got my 1933 Remington typewriter). AND I’ll be selling ALL my books (plus my dolls) at Christine’s parking lot sale this Saturday. *hint hint* 😉
So I’m sorry to have to say goodbye to my bookstore, but I’m thankful for new opportunities – especially since I LOVE that flea market!
